Amrit S. Kapai

Amrit S. Kapai is a partner at Dunn Law, P.A. who focuses his practice on insolvency, with an emphasis on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He regularly represents trustees, fiduciaries, creditors, and debtors, and brings the firm a rare combination of litigation and transactional experience.
On the litigation side, Amrit has represented banks, equipment lessors, and finance companies in breach of contract disputes, guarantor litigation, and replevin matters, including several years at a global law firm representing a multinational banking institution in financial-services litigation under federal and state banking laws. He has prepared and successfully argued numerous dispositive motions and uses alternative resolution tools to end disputes efficiently.
In corporate bankruptcy, Amrit represents trustees, debtors, secured lenders, and other parties in restructurings, out-of-court workouts, and bankruptcy-related litigation. His recent work includes representing a Chapter 7 trustee in a complex avoidance-action portfolio of more than one hundred cases. Before joining Dunn Law, he was a partner at a Chicago corporate restructuring and litigation boutique and a litigation attorney at Mayer Brown LLP, and he interned for bankruptcy judges in the Southern District of Florida and the Eastern District of Missouri.
Outside the office, Amrit serves on the board of the South Florida chapter of the American Heart Association and is an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.
