Amrit focuses his practice on insolvency with an emphasis on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He regularly represents trustees, fiduciaries, creditors and debtors, and brings to the firm a diverse background consisting of both litigation and transactional experience. On the litigation front, Amrit has substantial commercial litigation experience having represented banks, equipment lessors, and finance companies in breach of contract disputes, guarantor litigation, and replevin matters. This litigation experience includes several years at a global law firm representing a multinational banking institution in financial services-related litigation involving alleged violations of various federal and state banking laws. Amrit has prepared and successfully argued numerous dispositive motions, engaged in discovery practice, and utilized alternative resolution tools to efficiently and cost-effectively resolve disputes on behalf of his clients. Specific to corporate bankruptcy, Amrit represents trustees, debtors, secured lenders, and other parties in restructurings, out of court workouts, and bankruptcy-related litigation. His most recent experience includes representing a chapter 7 trustee in a complex avoidance action litigation portfolio consisting of over 100 cases.
Prior to joining Dunn Law, Amrit was a partner at a Chicago-based corporate restructuring and litigation boutique. He also previously served as a litigation attorney at Mayer Brown LLP. In law school, Amrit was a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge A. Jay Cristol, former Chief Judge Emeritus, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida and Judge Kathy Surratt-States in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Amrit is admitted to the Florida Bar (2021) and the Illinois Bar (2011). He is eligible to practice before the U.S. District Courts in the Northern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, Southern District of Florida, and Southern District of Texas, as well as the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts in these districts.
In his free time, Amrit serves on the board of the South Florida chapter of the American Heart Association and as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.
