Michael P. Dunn is the founder and managing partner of Dunn Law, P.A. Michael concentrates his practice in insolvency with an emphasis on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He regularly represents trustees and fiduciaries, banks, creditors, debtors, and distressed asset purchasers. He represents parties in complex fraud litigation, professional liability, director and officer liability, breach of fiduciary duty, partnership and shareholder disputes, business divorces, avoidance and recovery of preferential and fraudulent transfers, asset recovery, and the liquidation of real property, personal property, and digital assets.
Michael often serves as a court-appointed fiduciary in both state and federal matters, including as a court-appointed fiduciary in a Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement action in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud and several Florida Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors.
Michael also practices in both real estate and commercial transactions. As a title agent, Michael has handled a range of residential and commercial closings throughout Florida. He has represented start-ups, small businesses, and new ventures in their formation, early-stage funding, negotiations between partners and shareholders.
Michael is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator, and Florida licensed title agent. As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, Michael has been selected by the parties to mediate a range of commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters.
Michael recently concluded the 2022/23 term as the President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida and served in elevating roles on the executive board of the BBA for the last six years. He currently serves as co-chair of the UCC 12 Secured Digital Assets Task Force for the Florida Bar’s Business Law Section and was selected as a Business Law Section Fellow for the ’21-’23 term. He is also a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Michael was selected among his peers as a Rising Star in 2021 and 2022 and as a Super Lawyer in 2023 by Florida Super Lawyers.
Michael is a frequent speaker and has been published on a variety of topics including bankruptcy and insolvency; real estate, cryptocurrency, blockchain, NFTs and NFT fraud.
